I need an urgent medical consultation, but I cannot travel to the medical centre

With AXA’s telemedicine service, you can consult a doctor from the comfort of your home via video calls, chats or phone calls 24/7. This service is beneficial when you cannot travel or need urgent medical advice wherever you are. You can access this service using the MyAXA mobile app.
Another option is to use the service for emergency home visits provided by your health insurance. If you cannot travel, the insurance company will send the general practitioner or paediatrician to your home. To request this service, you must call the telephone number on the back of your health insurance card: (0034) 933 12 57 48.
If you cannot contact the insurance company or there are no doctors available, AXA is one of the few insurers allowing you to call any doctor of your choice. The insurance will reimburse 80% of the bill, subject to the reimbursement limit set by your policy—which is usually around €260 per visit. I need to see a specialist; how do I access the AXA medical directory?

AXA provides an extensive medical directory that includes more than 44,000 medical services throughout Spain, giving you easy access to specialist consultations in cardiology, dermatology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, and more.
You will find all the services in the medical directory. It allows you to filter by location or specialists; you can even search for those who speak English. For your convenience, Dylsi can send you a list filtered by location or language with the most relevant medical services for you based on where you live. We can even recommend certain specialists based on positive feedback from health insurance clients. Request this list by emailing [email protected]

How can I request a medical authorisation for an examination or treatment?

At Dylsi, we make things easy for you and process your authorisation request. All you have to do is email Yolanda ([email protected]), including the information you have, such as medical reports and the centre’s authorisation request form. We will take care of all the paperwork for you. However, we recommend requesting authorisation at least 48 hours in advance!

Does my health insurance cover hospitalisation and surgery?

Health insurance offers full coverage for surgical and medical hospitalization, with no limit on days in the hospital. In addition, it includes psychiatric hospitalization, as well as necessary surgical interventions such as cesarean sections, or childbirth.

I am concerned about not detecting diseases in time

As a policyholder, you have access to comprehensive preventive programmes for the early diagnosis of diseases such as breast, colon, and prostate cancer and glaucoma prevention, among others. These programmes include regular check-ups and diagnostic tests such as ultrasound scans, MRI scans, and mammograms. You can also get an annual oral cleaning; if you are pregnant, insurance includes childbirth preparation classes.

I have had to pay for a medical service out-of-pocket. Can I claim reimbursement?

Reimbursement depends on the health insurance plan you have taken out. Some, but not all, allow reimbursement of expenses for professionals not included in the medical directory. If your health insurance is a plan that provides for reimbursement and free choice of doctors, you can go to any specialist or health centre in Spain and other countries, and you will receive 80% of the anticipated expenses.

I’m going abroad – what if I have a health issue?

Most health insurance policies include travel assistance insurance if you are travelling and need health care abroad. This insurance covers up to €15,000 of medical expenses and 60 days per trip. To use it, call the telephone number on your health insurance card: (0034) 933 66 95 81. We recommend that you check whether your policy includes travel assistance insurance before starting your trip. We can help you find out.

I am pregnant; what services are covered by my health insurance?

Suppose you are planning to expand your family. In that case, AXA offers an advanced and differentiated programme for pregnant women, including childbirth preparation classes, postpartum pelvic floor rehabilitation exercises, home visits by a midwife, and cover for all examinations and pregnancy monitoring until delivery.
